Looking for information , adapter drawing , install pictures that will connect the 1984-87 Ford f150 4 speed overdrive transmission to the early Ford torquetube. Planning to install into 35-36 Ford chassis ..... Thanks
You're better off using a lighter (Smaller) auto, http://www.flatattackracing.com/Kit adapts a Toyota Cressida / Crown 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission to 32-48 Ford flatheads. The flattie will be hard pressed turning over a big OD transmission, a lot of inertia to overcome.
IIRC, that trans is a manual 3-speed with an OD gear, based on a 4-speed trans. In which case, a Borg-Warner T5 from a 4x4 vehicle there already is a way to adapt to the torque tube and it will work fine with any smaller motor.
Yes , I am talking about the aluminium manual toploader 4 speed , 4th is an overdrive , the shifter assembly is on top of the the tranny where the cast toploader inspection plate is. The shifter will come thru the floor very close the the original 35 -36 ford 3 speed location. The shifter is very similar to the hard to find CJ jeep shifter assembly that was installed as per the street rodder article several years ago.
