1964 Corvair show and go drag custom survivor built circa 1967.

The car started life as a factory turbocharged Monza Spyder Convertible. It has had a hard top grafted on and set at a 3 1/2” chop. Being a convertible, it has a factory reinforced body sub structure. It has a narrowed Dana 60 posi Rearend with 35 spline axles, ladder bars, and ‘57 Olds/Pontiac brakes. The car is known to have raced at the big funny car meet at Rockford (Byron) Dragway in 1968. At that time the car was a bright red show car with a hilborn injected 327/331 with the injector stacks and magneto clearing the hood. All custom work was gas welded and leaded and done in approximately 1967 by an unknown custom car craftsman. The original builder and racer remains unknown. The story picks back up in 1974 when the car changed hands to a known drag racer and smuggler, who street drove and showed the car through the summer of ‘74-75. At that time the race motor had been replaced with a street motor, but the car was still bright red and it was running Cragars on all 4 corners.

Currently, the car comes with the correct, matching title and almost a complete car in spare parts, such as but not limited to : rust free doors, hood, trunk lid, window trim, garnish molding, headliner, door panels, dash components, front suspension, front nose section headlight to headlight, rear section taillight to taillight, and extra roof. It had been stripped for paint in the 90s and separated from all the trim and interior. I bought a nice complete 1964 Monza and cut it up to provide replacement parts to fix almost every Corvair specific part of this car. Has factory SS 2 spoke wood steering wheel and factory gauges with tach and boost gauge. Rear wheels are 15x7 aluminum 5 spokes with 10” Racemaster slicks. The front wheels are special option 15x4.5 steel wheels from a 1962 Buick Special.

Further details and photos can be provided. Asking 6k obo for everything (injector Manifold not included). DM or call 815 979 6753.
