Discussion in 'Cars For Sale' started by LowKat, Aug 5, 2017.

  1. City: Oregon City (near Portland)

    State: Oregon
    Price: 42,000 obo
    SOLD **** SOLD **** SOLD

The only reason I'm selling the Impala is, I bought my friend's 1958 Corvette from his widow. He owned for 44 years. I knew him and the Vette for 25 years.

I bought the Impala 2 years ago from 2nd owner. He bought it 36 years ago as a restoration candidate. Had it at home in the garage for 20 years before driving it to where it was stored inside a pole barn when I bought it. Engine was always started and run at least once a year while stored.

Number and date matching original engine, transmission and 3:08 non-posi rearend have never been out or apart except for me adding the tri-power intake. Runs, drives and stops well although I haven't driven it much. Factory power steering and brakes. Car assembled at Van Nuys in 3rd week of Feb. This would make a good SS clone.

5 original wheels and 4 nice original full wheel covers. Tires are Remington repro bias ply wide whites. 3 of the tires are weather checked/cracked and one is new. All have excellent tread and hold air.

Hijacker air shocks in the rear that work good
original wiring is not cut or bad

    BAD STUFF:
convertible top is good condition but the back window is gone.
transmission leaks heavy if car sits too long without running it
    headlights are working half ass
(maybe needs new headlight or dimmer switch)
other lights work correctly but one turn signal
original interior but has big split in driver seat bottom,
stain on the back seat from a tire sitting there for years
funky glued on carpet over original at the bottom of the door panels
power top complete but not functioning (I haven't checked it out)
(I put the top up and down manually)
gas gauge was working but didn't move last time fuel was added
neutral safety switch needs replaced (jumper wire now to bypass)
one drip a week from power steering control valve
radiator isn't original it's a 2 row from 1960 (works good and no leaks)

baseball size hole over L&R body mount by front seat,
rest of floor is very nice
    body mounts are solid

very small rust hole in RH trunk where it meets inner fender.

Had a front mount antenna that previous owner patched the hole.

will need lower quarter panels and sills (rust in wheel lips)
I added a little more Bondo to the lower quarters and sills then rattle can color matched the paint which is off shade. There's mismatching paint all over the car as it had primer spots when I got it. The car had a complete paint job many years ago.
