History 1961 acc. codes on cowl

    Need to know what these codes mean that are on my 1961 Impala SS firewall cowl plate ...
    ACC. SS L C AC E Thank you so much if someone knows these codes. I was directed to a fellow member Vern Frantz that is suppose to be the keeper of info on Chevy codes??

    The codes are all related to when their building the body before it is mated to a chassis/engine combo. It's how they know what trim and interior parts that particular body require for assembly. ACC. SS L C AC E
    ACC.= accessories (This is on all the body tags. You find some cars that have no codes after this like plain jane biscaynes) SS= I believe is simply SS model seats , L= 4 speed,
    C=Padded dash, AC= air conditioning, E=tinted glass
