Looking to upgrade my babbit pounder 216 in my 1951 chevy two door, even though it has been running great.

question is, would a 235 out of a 1960 pickup bolt up to my stock three speed in the car, what problems in terms of installation should i consider?

    different motor mounts?

will it bolt up to the three speed?

    Ideas? Comments?

Use the 51 bellhousing ,drill the bottom timing cover to match the 51.Waterpump will be the biggest issue, get the kit that uses the early style WP and all will be good. If you keep the 6 volt system use the 51 flywheel and starter also. Change to 12v use the later starter/flywheel.

Patrick's, Langdons, maybe chevs of the 40s. you have to keep the flywheel with its starter. regardless if it is going to use a 12v or 6 battery, the tooth count will not jive.

you can move the radiator forward to gain clearance.

  8. Those 235s have some wieght to em, huh?....

Even if you switch to 12v, you can keep the 6v flywheel and starter. Itll like the extra juice, as long as you dont spin it over and over and over.

You can also get a shortened water pump from one of the repop suppliers, i like chevs of the 40s.
    Great customer service.
