A friend has a very nice 1958 F-100 that he has offered me at a very nice price. I much prefer the 1957 front sheet metal. How much is involved in changing the sheet metal over to 57 stuff? Is it just the grille and hood or will I also need to change core support and inner and outer fenders? I have heard that good 57 stuff is extremely hard to find, anybody have any insight? Thanks.
Should be a bolt on. I doubt that you'll need to change the core support. You may need to jill flirt a hole or two though and maybe need to swap the fenders but probably not.
The only real difference between a 57 and a 58 is the grill/headlights; the hood and fenders are the same. There may be some minor differences in the core support for the headlight mounting that might require some mods, but nothing that will show when done. The 59-60 do have different fenders/hood, so those require the whole front clip.
The 57 & 58 hoods fenders splash apron are the same a few different fastener holes in the radiator core support on the 57 as the grill is single headlights.
