Beautiful car. My neighbor has one in white. I drool each time he drives past my house in it. You scored!
I managed to pick up a decent pair of Texas fenders and bumpers As well as a tinted windshield to replace the clear one that someone had installed.
Can't remember your comment about hubcaps. Might this be a possibility? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/56-lincoln-hub-caps.1226624/
Continental Sun Valley! I love it, and I'm shocked at how well the roof crown and width measurements line up with the Continental. This is the perfect car for that top. I can't wait to see how this turns out in the end.
Either the top moving along I decided to attack the sides. This includes reshaping the doors and wheel openings.
Can you go with a color scheme like the Merc Sun Valleys had? Dark green for the metal roof and perhaps another for the body. I always liked how the green metal part of the roof matched the upper glass on most of them.
I love the new door shape! Similar to the shape of a 55 Thunderbird door, and it really translates well to the Continental body. Were they designed by the same person/team? Looks like it's supposed to be that way. Will the window frame get reshaped as well? I'm 100% on board for this, also nice to see updates, and still in shock that the glasstop roof fit in there. I would have guessed the Continental roof to be much wider.
Thanks! The roof was 1” narrower so I had to section the frame a little. I actually copied the rear profile of a 58 thunderbird door I have. I always felt that it was the actual replacement for the Mark Two.
I like what you have done to it so far. Glad to see it getting done. How do cars like this end up that way?
