    Hey folks.

    I have a question.

On my '57 wagon I have a newer 350 w/ 700r, and the vacuum wiper motor. If I get a stock 55-57 electric wiper motor, will it fit ok with the HEI dizzy? I hate to spend the $$ getting an og motor only to have it not fit.

The electric wipers might interfere with the operation of the HEI magnetics. If so there is a polarity fix out there , let me know...

  6. Does the HEI interfere with the vacuum motor ? If not, why change it ?

    Thanks guys.

I found a rebuilt stock electric motor in craigslist for $100, but I missed out on it. I am trying to get the stock vac motor to work, new gaskets etc, but it still isn't working right. I need to tinker with it some more. I figured if I could grab a good elec motor for 100, rather than spend 200+ on a rebuilt one, or the expensive raingear kit, I'd be good with that.

Just a crazy question about GM vacuum wipers then. My 55 Olds motor has a dual acting fuel pump that helps run the wipers. From what I remember about all the tri-5 chevys I had many decades ago, chevy never did that?

Silly question, but I was just wondering why some car brands had different setups

I think chevy did that with some of the inline 6 engines?

  12. How a Tri 5 thread got past me for 3 days, I can't understand. Let alone one with 1957 Chevy in the title.. JPEG_20161003_094745_662640623.jpg JPEG_20161003_095637_-1677081289.jpg Engine out of mine at the moment, here's a comparison. Nice wagon BTW!

My 57 Fuel injected BelAir had a factory auxillary electric trico vacuum pump that was triggered by low vacuum and it worked very well but they are kinda scarce and pricey as well.

  16. FWIW I would try NEWPORT Engineering for an electric wiper. I've had one in my Safari for 10 years with zero problems after smoking a NOS Chevy motor(same as Pontiac)I bought at a swap meet.Bolted right in in less than a half hour.Biggest problem was the switch:the set screw was in the wrong place for the Pontiac dash. Finally got it installed and contacted New Port about it and I think they changed it on their subsequent models.
As I understand it they are the same as the early Corvette and they usually want telephone numbers for a price for that stuff.

Newport is the way to go, used a bunch of them. Never had a problem.

    Thanks for the pics!

I am just not ready to spend that much $$$ for the Newport set-up.

  19. The clearance Clarence will be with the firewall not the wiper motor. Depending where ur engine and body ended up on that frame sometimes you need to massage the firewall. I just run msd plug and play distributors. No fitment issues. And I swapped all my tri fives to electric. My .02
