Anyone know what years will fit a 1956 Ford Truck stock radio? It has the 3 inch diameter round face. Is this a 1956 truck only radio? Thanks, Mike
Before 1956 all Fords were 6 volt...'56 was the changeover year to 12 volts...The radios from '53-55 will fit but don't put 12 volts to 'em or they will fry.
topless, ahhhh good point about the 6 volt vs 12 volt. My dad is looking for a radio for his 1956 ford truck and was thinking that it was a one year only radio. I don't have a picture because the radio was missing in his truck. Thanks, Mike
I don't know what a 56 truck radio looks like but my buddy recently bought a 1960 Ford truck with the factory radio. When we first looked at it, I thought it was a gauge. It's round but tiny when compared to a 55 car radio. He has since sold the 60 and bought a 56. I thought about that radio because it was so unusual compared to other radios of that era.
I believe it was 53-56 with the 56 being 12 volt? They were a three piece set. Dash radio unit, Powersupply / amp mounted on firewall and speaker with enclosure. Very hard to find a complete set. Check ebay. As of Jan. 16, 2008, there is a partial one (missing amp.) still for sale on Ebay. item #230212816099 There is another '56 set (less speaker) that ended on Jan-14-08 Ebay item #230212816099 if you get on it quick, you can cop the pictures for later ref. Cheers!
radiodoc, Thanks for the info! I didn't realize that the power supply is separate from the dash unit. I guess that means I need both. Mike
