   I picked up a 55 ford fairlane the hood is rooted beyond repair i found a 56 hood i was wondering if will it fit correctly im not concerned with the hood ormament

   Yes, it will fit but you might want to put the trim along the front edge from the 55 on the 56 so the grille trim will match.
