⭐️⭐️⭐️SOLD⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This 1955 First Series GMC Pickup has been owned and cared for by the seller for 50 years. He purchased it in Colorado, from the second owner, who told him that it was originally purchased in 1956 as a "Left Over." Most of these GMC's were sold without a rear bumper, expecting people to have custom ones fabricated depending on how they wanted to use the truck. This one has a heavy channel iron with angled corners. There is also an heavy angle iron that bolts on for a trailer hitch. About 1965 the original owner converted it to a 12-volt system, installed a Chevrolet 283 V-8 engine, and a big 4-speed transmission with Granny Low, believed to be a Muncie SM-420. He also replaced the worn bed boards with heavy plywood, reinstalling the original metal strips over it. A few years later it was sold to the person the current owner bought it from. It came with the Roberk Jr West Coast breakaway mirrors, with rare ground-in wide angle spots, still in excellent condition. Shortly after purchase, he had the original seats recovered in black vinyl, and repaired a few minor rust spots. He built a plywood camper on it, and through the 1970's it was used for travel and work, from the Florida Keys, to Maine, San Diego, and Northern Oregon. In 1978 he moved to the Los Angeles area, and replaced the camper with the lighter custom one that is on it now. In 1983 the truck was partially disassembled, professionally painted and bright work re-chromed or replaced. In 1988 the engine was rebuilt, and in 1995 the 4-barrel Carter Carburetorwas replaced with a 4-barrel Edelbrock and new intake manifold to fit it. There were repairs and partial painting as needed through the 90's. The owner moved from LA to Maine in 1997, and kept the truck garaged and driven only a little on Summer days until driving it to Oregon in 2014 where he now lives. It still has the original 15" wheels & Hub Caps, and only 600 miles on new Hankook Optimo P225/75 R15 Tires. The easily accessible spare is mounted on the original bracket under the bed, just inside the rear bumper. Recently the exhaust manifolds were re-faced & new headers made very nicely. Drives great, the owner says that it accelerates easily to 70 - and if he hits the gas, it wants to take off, but he never dared to test it. He usually tries to hold it to around 60. Custom Camper: Two pieces of 3/4 plywood, 2' x 6' 1" fit across the front of the camper, and he had a foam mattress, two pieces sewn into a cloth cover so that one piece of the plywood could slide out from under the other, and the mattress open up to be a comfortable double bed. Boxes for camping fit under it, easily slid out on the padded indoor/outdoor carpet. All can be lifted out to make room for tools, or hauling large things. A factory maintenance manual, files of detailed receipts and records for the last 50 years, and many extra parts, some new, some gleaned from yards over the decades in case they might be needed, all come with truck to the new owner.
