Hello, Phantom here. I have an old '54 Chevy Bel Air that I tried to resurrect the straight six in, but to no avail. So, the 6 is out. I am planning to install a 436 'W' stroker(formerly a 1958 Impala 348 V8 motor) A.S.A.P. but I need some advice from those who may have or have had trial and error in an event as such. I must know two things in order to start: first, will the adapter from the 1958 348/powerglide fit the bolt pattern of the 1954 powerglide and mate up?
Second, will the behemoth W motor have issues fitting into the engine bay such as steering bar clearances and exhaust manifold installation? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. The photos attached are of its current resting place in the engine bay of a 68 C10.
