1951 Kaiser Drag'n build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NTAPHSE, Jun 13, 2008.

  1. He had both out there again...He was having trouble keeping the roadster straight (track went to hell pretty quickly). We were staged next to him in the 2nd round and he said he'd gone through the lights sideways at 184 the first time, and wagged all the way down the second time...not sure what his numbers were in the Thing.

The Thing was only going about 120, it has an old flathead in it. But hey, its "traditional" :)

  3. I just can't believe how quickly he gets in/out of it. Of course it's like a comfortable pair of shoes for him as long as he's been racing it.

I am glad it's a nice job on the chrome, especially with how close you got that camera, lol.

With parts like the trunk moulding, I look at it as restoring art, because the moulding itself is its own sculpture within the entire car. It is exciting to see my work on the car. :D

Well my friends, this will be brief because I just walked in the door and I'm hungover from House of Kolor paint fumes and lack of sleep. I'll post more pics and fill in the story later.

Nice! Not sure what the paint plan is, but definitely very curious. Looking forward to more. Keep up the good work.

    Congratulations Keith, looks fantastic!

The best way to finish on a build like that- with a Winfield fade

Killer paint on a killer build.

You sure your not trying to pull a switch on us all  You are a dead ringer for George Barris and your paint fades just as nice. WOW good stuff right there.

I love the paint! Beautiful! :D

I had the privilage of speaking with Gene Winfield at the Road Rocket Rumble and he told me it would be painted next week. Apparently he was dead-on for exactly a week from speaking with him. My dear mother didn't think he could have been in business since before she was born until he told her himself, lol.

The chrome is very close to completion although my progress pics are lagging much. I'm still waiting on the headlight rings; I hope you were able to source another one. Even if you can only find a rotten broken one, I can put it back together.

Can't wait to see this one in person or at least in a magazine. When I dream of a car at night, his paint fades remind me of what I remember in the morning...
