I just got this 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak 2 dr coupe, all original, not all hacked up. Finally getting started building it so I'm making this a build thread now.

This is the first Pontiac I'll ever have owned, so I'm new to this breed. I like the body lines and thats whats attracting me to it.

What cars' parts are interchangable with it if any? Its missing some misc interior stuff, seats, piddly stuff, but its moslty complete.

It has a flat head six cylinder in it, is that of value at all, because I was gonna ditch it and roll something newer?

Anybody have some pics of that kind of car customized?

    Thanks for your help fellers.

Here she is: Shes a little rough but they always are when they're cheap.

It's not technically a "hardtop", it has posts. I only meant its not a convertible. ...and yes I do have pics, I'm uploading some now.

That Pontiac is either a 2door sedan or a coupe. It looks like a good but rusty start and hopefully it has ALL the trim not shown in the pictures. Missing stuff won't be easy to find. I

Hi "J"; My name is Ray from Loretto, ky. Some parts from '49 thur '52 chevys will fit your Pontiac (doors, rocker panels, glass, interior window moldings to name a few. I know of a '50 Pontiac 2-door fastback that may have some parts that you may need; I'll check to see if the guy still has the car and get back to you. Send me PM on the parts that you may need....Your car will make a sweet mild custom... P.S. I have been to "Big City" several times....

  10. Chevy deck lid will interchange, too, just won't have the silver streak on it.

Six might have some value to a guy who needs it, I wouldn't just throw it away. Steering clearance for a V8 is tight on these cars -

I think you should put some 32 Ford tail lights on it!

Nice Poncho Coupe. Just french the 50 Poncho taillights and the headlights. Don't chop it, put an Olds windshield in it and a correct year visor. Drop it 3 inches and put skirts on it.
Oh by the way air bags are not old school. Give it nice paint Watson style not "flat black" which is not old school either. A 261 will fit nicely with a couple of 94's. JMHO

    Something like this.

  17. If he puts an Olds windshield on it. How is he gonna mount the visor?

  18. I think those early 50s Pontiacs are pretty good looking.

You don't see that many of them running around these days.

Not sure they have a high dollar resale value in most cases.

Re that engine, you might eventually look up the Pontiac
Owners Club International (POCI) and post it for sale.

About your location listing......I feel it helps a little bit to know
where a person is. For one thing, they might be near to where
another HAMBer lives. Or, as someone said, if the car came
    from someplace near
the ocean, it might really have some rust problems.

Anyway........welcome and good luck on your project.

My buddys got one of these, its pretty nice too, also i think hes got an old grille he took off that aint half bad. None of the frame /chassis parts will interchange with my 51 chevy i know that much. Its got reverse thread lugs on one side of the car, which had me scratching my head one day. I think youll find that maybe, maybe a few body panels will swap out (even those will need coersion). Not sure GM was so big on true cross platforms at the time. Your car has potential and its definetly not run of the mill. Oh ya and my location is Jville so ponder that .

Thanks I'm hoping to put together a build thread on it and I hoping to start tearing it down in a few days. We'll see how that goes.
