I got a new project. Started life out in Fort Bragg where an asian dude chopped it. A friend of mine purchased the original rolling shell from him 10 years ago. He subframed the car. Installed. 59 Impala dash and progressed with the car. His daughter was born then the car sat for many years. When the economy took a shit he sold it off to another friend. When Him and I were down at the Malaga show we stayed at his buddy's place. I had been thinking about this car for some time. It was sitting under a tarp at his farm. I pulled the tarp off and we struck a deal. It is now at the painters.
Chris progressed with the car installing new floors, molding the fenders and the quarters and bagged it. He also had the Olds 455 rebuilt. Mocked it up then it sat for a few more years.
It's going to be painted House Of Colors Candy Brandy Wine. I am going to put it back together and drive the shit out of it.
Talked to Ed over at Tri Valley Glass last week and they are going to handle cutting the front and installing the rear glass when it comes out of paint.
why the hell would anybody work a Hudson??oh yea never mind! sounds like ya are already moving forward at a good pace, what rear end do ya have in it??it's good to see more Hudson's showing up here..i'll send ya some links for some other builds=====chuck
They are not cheap by any means . But as the old saying goes" You get what you pay for" And I only want to do this one time. Give Tony or Ed a call. I got there number and we are close enough.
Can't wait to see it painted, it's definitely gonna be a unique ride! We should have a mini classic car show in the back lot at work, haha
Prob bring it there and let them do that and the side glass. I got a little time. Thanks! Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Almost there. That rear wheel house is skirted all the down now. Should be in paint in the next couple weeks.
I like the lines of the 50 Hudson when chopped, and that one looks great. I think they are waaaay better than the 50 Mercury. I had a 53 that was chopped, nosed & decked with molded fenders, rounded hood, 56 Chevy headlights and 53 Pontiac grill. It was also running a 455 but a Buick. Yours looks so much better with the longer roof line and that chop. Once you get it on the road people will always be asking you, "What years your Merc?", so be prepared. I got personalized plates that read, 8NOMERC. Have fun.
Damn, 35Master, you work FAST! I'm glad the HAMB has so many guys who appreciate the low-riding Hudsons of 48 to 54. The chop is just right! You going to run the skirts on it? Also, what's your plan for the grille? GREAT save!
