I have included a few pictures of a 1949 Champion design hydroplane speed boat with ford V8-60. I am in the process of rebuilding the boat. The engine has matching Eddie Mayers intake and heads with a Harman & Collins mag. I am going to need a set of racing pistons and i will be looking for a Alum. racing flywheel. Over all the engine is in great shape and only has about 4 hours since 1950. Brian in NH

    Very cool!

Look at those pipe thread 90* fittings for the exhaust.

That is so fucking cool it's off my scale. I've always wanted to restore a wooden powerboat, I had not a clue you could find something like this. That'll be amazing when done!

  6. i would have to leave it as is for a couple more months, just to look at it, i luv old wood boats,

I'd be REALLY tempted to leave it just as it is and mount it on the wall of my shop.

Keep us informed (with pictures) of the progress. Very neat project. I'm jealous;)

I love old boats. My dad had a hydro back in the late fourties. It was smaller with an outboard engine. Share the buildup on here please.

Very kool! Go rent the DVD “Madison” – it’s about hydro racing around 1971 in Madison, IN.

  20. Thanks for sharing the find. A friend of mine used to run these things out in CA back in the day. Looks like a Stearman seat in there with the vertical sliders still attached(I want it....dang it)....Cool find, keep us posted.

  21. Well you're in way over my head.:D

    That is a slick project.

You can get pistons from JE if you dont mind that they are new.
