Customs 1949-54 Chevys (Where Did They Go?)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Scotch Buzzard King, Nov 2, 2011.

  1. Had mine for 10 years now.

  2. I like that idea. Was thinking about the eye brows on mine myself. Got a couple in storage.

    Ditto. :D

I need to find a set. Dan Chuck has them repopped but they're $100 each side and that does not include the lights and bezels. I need to find a roached '55 somewhere and cut them out so I can have them in on reserve.

I'd like a chopped fastback. Haven't really seen a chopped tri five or later for comparison though.

My uncle has 10 or so 49-54s just sitting.

The "Rose Mist"!!!! Love that version of Grapevine however this is my absolute favorite version ever. This and the Silver Metallic (third) version of Moonglow are amongst my top 5 customs ever....

cutitup, your 53 is beautiful. as another post said. not sure why , but it is just right.

question to others. when they put the 53 grill on Larry's car, does the edge of the hood have to be reworked to align or are the bottom edge of the hoods on 49-54 the same. The one item on my 51 I do not care for is the upper grill bar (bent edges vs smooth rounded curve to it.

He also shaved each tooth down so he could fit 3 or 4 more teeth in the same opening. I have a love for 53 teeth. I think they're the best looking by far. Bitchin car for sure....

I am working on a 49 chevy fleetline right now...they are twice as hard to build as a 51 ford shoebox...that is the reason you do not see too many of them.

  30. Errr... what? Even the damn front suspension/crossmember unbolts off one of these cars, you can build one with one arm tied behind your back if you have any experience at all. Especially with all the aftermarket kits for upgrades. About the only thing you still have to fab yourself is if you want to bag it in the rear and get it super low.

FWIW, back to the OP's question, I can pick up magazines going back months and see plenty of these both in features and in show coverage, not sure why you're not seeing them.
