Off the front pillar was about 3-4 inches. The rest was done a bit at a time to get a nice flow. The rear window is in the same place. I've got an original untouched coupe here as well. I realy like your zephyr. I have one a 40 in my barn. Mine is in alot worse shape than yours.

  11. Mate this is awesome! Will it finish with a traditional (Barris/Westergard) look or modern? Love the bench seat/column shift option. This car is a testament to why I can't look at modern "blob cars" it's just not necessary and how can anyone get excited?

Thanks for the replys. It'll be finished off traditionally. I'm working on the 1/4 vent windows at the moment . The car Was rusted out pretty bad when I got it. I'm building it for a client so it's his and my design.all new steel crossmembers and rear chassis . Will be a driver tho! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1375313282.840707.jpg

That car looks like its doing 120, parked. Very cool.

Looks like you might need to add an inch or two to that driveshaft though...

These photos are from a year ago when it was first stripped . Can see all dodgy repairs.

It's amazing what shows up when you blast. I just went through the same findings of lousy fabrication when I blasted my next project, a 37 ford coupe.

Love this car and really like what you have done so far, it's gonna be good and worth the efforts.

Getting closer to the end of my Zephyr build by the day, there's some familiar ground in your pics.
It's amazing how some people will leave their bodywork and then just cover it in filler. Some very crude work on the roof chop. Good to see you are turning it around.

Just looked at the pics again. I think some people shouldn't be allowed near a welder. There's some pretty dangerous stuff been done there, the engine mounts are really something, but I think strong probably isn't one of them.
I reckon you have more work putting the bad right than you would have had doing the whole thing from scratch.

Subscribed to the thread, I like to see somebody else with vision.

Those roofs are not for the beginner to attempt..I'm going to be cutting a 41 soon, all that swoopy metal should be loads and loads of fun...

  28. Yowza; that is going to be one slippery Zephyr. For those not real familiar with them,
the proportions and length of that roof-line and trunk cannot be appreciated until seen
    in person, especially THIS one!
(Good to see you are eliminating those fugly chassis welds, too, but staying w/ the V-12)
