    41-Pickup

    Hello All,
Building a 1941 Ford Pickup. Mustang II Front End and 1967-70 Mustang 8" Rear End (has same WMS to WMS dimension as stock pickup = 59.25")

Wondering what front and rear wheel size (including backspacing) and tire sizes any of you may be running who have the same or similar setup.?

    Thank you

  2. My truck (see avatar) runs stock front and rear axles. I use 15x6 front wheels with a 1" offset on the front. They fit well and don't rub. Tires are 195/60. On the rear I use 15x8.5 wheels with 3.75" backspace. Tires are 255/60. They just clear the fender opening. A bigger backspace would be better but they don't rub.

Old post i know but you were just here yesterday so maybe you'll chime in. I am in need of wheels and tires for my stock setup as well. 2 questions regarding your specs.. Do you mean 1" backspace when you say say 1" offset on the fronts? Or? Secondly you say you have 3.75 backspace on the rears but a bigger backspace would be better. What would you suggest for a backspace instead of the 3.75?

  4. My 40 pickup project runs 235/75-r15” by e back and I am also running an 8” rear with 15x7” rims, up front I am using a Speedway 4-bar setup with 15x5” rims - front and rear rims have centered backspacing - front tires will probably be 205/70-r15s. I am going for a late 50s to early 60s shop truck look so my tires are a bit narrow. My build thread is on here if you want to check it out further …..

  5. I sent you a pm but I will add some stuff. The front rims are 6 x 15. That means they are 7" wide overall. 1" offset means the backspace would be 3". The rears are 8.5" wide with a 3 3/4" backspace which puts the outside of the tires close to the fenders. I would like the backspace to be 4" to move the tires inside a bit or alternately I could have ordered 8" wide rims instead of 8.5. Hope that helps.

These are the 195/65 r15 I used to use on the front of nearly all my hot rods with 235/75 r15s on rear.

These are the 165/80r 15 I now use on the front of my hot rods. Both front wheels shown are 6" wide. The new rear mags are 16" and I run 235/75 r16 on them. Both rear wheels shown are 7" wide. The 16" rear tires seem to better fill the fender than the 15" wheels to me.
    Hope this helps.

I was looking for wheels for my 41 Ford pickup and saw the ones you have on your 40'. Are these a direct fit to the stock 5x5.5 pattern, and if so, can you share the details of where you purchased them from? Very nice looking truck!

I bought the steel wheels from Wheelsmith... they are the best with great service and good prices. My wheels had 4.5" and 4.75" bolt pattern but they make them 5" and 5.5" as well. 15X6 had backspace of 2.75" and 15X7 had 2.5" backspace. Hope this helps. Wheelsmith is the place... tell them I sent ya... shouldn't be more that 10% more!!:D:D
Thanks for the kind words about my pickup... they didn't make very many 1936 Ford Super Deluxe models.;):D
