Yay!! Love real vintage drag cars!!!!
Here's some more killer stuff with the ol' girl that gives some of her history. I have the log books they kept when the car ran from the late 60's all the way to 1979..Notice some of the comments and also class winner in D/Gas several times..Inside the log book were hand written timeslips from the now defunct Raceway Park in NJ..Also shown here are the trophies that were in the trunk of the car when I got it. Enjoy!
That's just really cool, love the car, story and the history that comes with it.
Looking forward on the rebuild!
Resurrection continues: Rebuilt the brakes with all new wheel cylinders and M/C from a mid-50's Ford..Also,the hydraulic clutch and slave were replaced..I was able to get the hydraulic throttle setup working but it sticks at times so I decided to replace it with a similar Eelco pedal/cable setup. The original Eelco fuel tank has a leak so I substituted an original MOON tank that I had.
Here's a great shots of this car doing what she was built to do!
If you want to sell those blue Moroso valve covers, I may buy them for wall hangers. I collect Moroso/Stahl stuff - thanks
Got the Willys out to a small car show on Saturday..trailered it down there as she's not really streetable yet..Brakes need some work, need to add an charging system and a bigger fuel tank!
what the heck is that little fan in the center of the hood going to do
That was their idea of a cooling fan! there were actually 2 of them mounted under the hood! ha ha!
What a Great piece of gasser history, hope you'll take us along for the rest of the story!
I added some Magnesium Halibrands for now..Every gasser Willys should have them!!On the hunt for a pair of 15X8,15x9 or 15x 10 Magnesium Americans to match the original front wheels..Plan on taking her to a few more outings this weekend..Adding an alternator and some other equipment to make her more streetable.
This was posted on the Hamb recently...The ol' Willys launching hard at Maple Grove,Pa.!
