I don't think it's been mentioned (or I haven't read it anywhere) but what's the plan for power? Oh, and of course, great work!
I presume that it was aircraft stripper that was used on the firewall. What process did you use to clean all of that stuff off prior to painting it the black?
40 Mercs are like Shoebox Fords, really kinda fugly, until....... they get a haircut, and everything changes. Rich
Looking good mate. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/index.php?threads/My '47 3W Dodge build..960954/ My build.
A haircut and skirts and it changes everything @Chris Casny what is the plan for the door glass/quarter glass treatment? curved like the Matranga merc? slanted? straight up?
Thanks guys. I'm using a Chevrolet V8 engine for this (came with the car) and an automatic transmission. @-Brent- I'm not a big fan of the B-Pillar so, I'm probably going to do something similar to the Matranga coupe. It's kind of hard to do anything new to these cars, since the bar was set so high, when the Barris shop built Matranga's car. @ynottayblock
Sailpanels. After I was happy with the roofline, I started making paper templates, transferred them to 18gauge sheet metal. After some primitive "over the pipe" bending, I used my english wheel to shape the panels.
After a few weeks doing other projects, I finally got some high build primer on the roof. Progress is slow, but things are happening.
