    thanks stogy,
    looks neat...
    thanks for the extras...
radio delete, w/s crank, and glovebox door handle... AND THE 289 BADGE...
course i don't need the ashtray or the hand throttle but they neatly fill the holes...
    .
i hope the steel facade is the same depth, i thought the same thing as you did...
    but after i bought it...
    glass 3 window vs. a ? steel '32 ford face under a '30 dashrail? ...
if needed i can extend the center by changing the lower bead arch on the steel one...
'38 may come down from the nail next year !

got the steel dash from sevenblacksmiths.com ... today...
re-enforced lower rail and comes with an inner bracket to mount the steering column drop...
    less than $100...
stogy, i'm relieved as the flat area of the facade is about 1" taller than the merc cluster...

    yes stogy,
face has a curved bead from top down and across to the other side... kind of C shaped in the corners...
the A dashrail comes to a point there..
hmmm... wish the glass dash was steel... but they are $600 plus...

Happy Friday Sloppy, I gave the cluster approx 1/2" on top and bottom...I think again, it looks pretty good...;)

welded a couple 1/4"-20's to the back side of the dash face...
they will help press the bottom half of the cluster against the dash, the gauge holes will hold the cluster up...
almost useless coat of bondo on the dash face... not good at spreading mud...
got a pretty good dash rail from a buddy, step drilled the "starter button" hole out to 1/2", welded a 1/4" flat washer into the hole...
engine grey then covered with cheapo black paint as a test...
new computer not set up for pix yet...
    pix ?,,,

Looks awesome @sloppy jalopies...you did a great job on that...that's a fair bit of critical cuts and fitting to get that cluster into that panel...

    DSCN8188.JPG stogy,
after re-reading you latest comment i think that you think i cut the cluster face holes...
i did not, i cut down the stock merc cover panel and welded it into the A dash.face...

I finished mine up around January. I was pretty happy with it.

I got some fine tuning to do around some of the corners to get it perfect. I rough cut it with a jigsaw and then file fit.

He doesn't have the upper panel on...I don't think either looks bad frankly...this is truly a freedom that has some flexibility...you may find sitting in the driver seat with the first drive the position you settled for it just fine due to visibility...

i tried '28-'29 CC ... too short... '28-'29 roadster too shallow...
said i wouldn't buy, but bought [3] '30-'31 closed car dashes at the sunday swapper...

I like it in the 32 dash ,because it is a really cool and different look , probably would make Henry wish he had done it, in the other dash looks like it came from factory that way, but still looks good, That is what I like about this site , people have a real flair for finding what looks bad ass but never been done before , keep up the good work
