Technical 1937 to 1947 Ford Front Axle INTERCHANGE

    Still collecting parts for the 1939 pickup project, need front axle advice.[​IMG]
    Can a 1942-47 axle be a direct swap for a 1937-41 using split bones? Is the width the same? Looks like the stock 42-47 has a bit of a drop over the 37-41. Thanks for your help. Bob

    Not sure where the axles from the war years would fall though

    The distances between the perches is more on the later axle. You would need a longer spring. And the axle overall is longer too.

    I believe the later axle is about an inch and a half wider drum to drum. That being said, I think I would mock it up with the wheels and see how everything looks....
