Phew!! Thought it had been rat rodded for a minute. Really cool car and some very nice lines. Looks great with fenders on and its got a garage buddy more door now. Continental did V6 and V8 as an option? Shame they went bust!!!

They offered a 45hp I-4 in the 101" wb Beacon, a 65hp I-6 in the 107" wb Flyer and an 85hp I-6 in the 114" wb Ace. The car pictured in the brochure on the previous page is an Ace. This is an Ace.

Here are a couple shots of the chop laid out. The plan is a straight 3" cut. Line up the b pillars and lay back the a pillars. The quarter windows will need re-worked. I think I am going to open them up a bit. I don't want them to end up being too much of a triangle shape. The back window will have 2" taken out of it and 1" taken out of the top. The owner wanted the back window to be as big as possible, with out looking terrible.

Actually, I think that a 3" straight drop will enhance the good Baron's design. He designed some beautiful, expensive, cars that look chopped.

I didn't see any pictures, though.

Here are a couple of shots with the roof coming off. I didn't know, but my dad snapped a shot of me cutting the roof off.

The Continentals were advertised as all-steel bodies. It looks like they still needed some wood to tack upholstery to. I noticed that my car has plywood floorboards. That seems like a pretty early use for that material.

And the top is back on! Going to take a lot of subtle slices to get everything lined up. The B pillars lined up nicely, but everything else is a little off.

  14. Looks like you picked the perfect amount to remove. Not too much or too little. Going to be great looking Josh, good work.

No channel, it would be a shame to cover that frame.

I think you've improved the design. That's what it would have looked like if men hadn't worn ridiculously tall hats.

I'm 6'5", sitting on a 2" seat spacer, and I still have 3" above my head in my Flyer. The original owner was 6'9" tall, so these cars could stand to lose some height.

I show my cars in Concours all over the country. Find a capital "C" Classic with a cut down roof and you have to watch your step for all the drool on the ground.

"I got the impression he was willing to pay an unlimited amount of money for one if it was stock and unmodified."

LOL...if there is only 3 in the world he will have to settle for whatever condition it is in.

You can see the radiator shell (grille) at 13:41, and the dash at 14:00

It does not have suicide doors.

Chop is almost finished up. Here are a few pics of it in progress and what it took to line everything up.

Cut out the quarter window and slid it back 7/8" to line up the back beads and "open" the window up a little. Then had to a piece back in the front.

Quarter window bead needed a little tweak to line up.

Windshield area needed a little work to get everything to line up and look right.
