History 1932 Ford Magazine Cover Cars ‘The Deuce’ only

Going through this thread is like a trip down memory lane. So many of these covers instantly triggered a memory of first seeing so many of them. The red 5W on this issue of Rod and Custom really caught my attention. Kept it at arm's length in my nightstand for many years. Back then, I could not wait for the next issue to be delivered. Today, I thumb through the few that I still get ( and the few that are still around), but not like the past, when I read the print off every page. Thanks for the memories.

 

The un-chopped, full fendered 5W was owned by Bob Magane at the time. Car was built by Bobby Bell. 283 Chevy powered ,running a 39 tranny and an early Ford rear. By the time this issue of Rod Action had come out, Mike Corbett had purchased the car from Magane. He removed the 5W body and replaced it with a Westcott Rdstr body ( which he still owns today). Don Spinney bought the body and put it on a Deuce chassis, running much the same set up of the chassis it had come off of. I ended up with the car by 1984. I had the body on two different chassis/different motors, fendered , no fenders, not chopped, chopped until I sold the car to Jim Padula back in 1999. Just kind of makes you wonder where all these Deuce cover cars ended up .

 

Yep, those were the magazines I read back in the 50s that got me started in the hobby.

 

I fell in love with the 32-34 truck, and ended up getting a 34.
