I saw this on ebay and thought it was a neat little ride. I have not seen it in person but maybe someone in here has, does anyone know the car? If anyone cares to offer any thoughts/comments on it I'd love to hear them. The guy wants mid 20's for it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1931-Ford-Model-A-Speedster-Hot-Rod_W0QQitemZ250033293074QQihZ015QQcategoryZ6234QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks.
I wish I could help you out, but I don't know anything about it. I like it, though. I REALLY like the steering wheel. What kind is that? Are reproductions available? Does anyone know?
that thing is sweet. i was gonna say cool steering wheel but Duece Rails did already. dudes got taste. thanks,
that is an AWESOME lil car... man... just beautiful, from every angle with lots of details... i LOVE it... shame is i dont think he will get the asking price, and im sure he has MUCH more than that into it
I thought i heard of a steering wheel like that being called a Fatman Steering wheel. Ive seen them on the ebay once and a while.
Yes indeed. That is a Fatman steering wheel that was a popular aftermarket add on on Model T Fords. There were a number of producers, all typically pivoted up like the one in the picture. They bring big $$ on Ebay. I have seen a couple nice ones bring $450. Kermit
Dig the car, especially the steering wheel. If i had one in my 54 maybe my big ass could get in and out a little easier BUT what gt me was the 2 tone red and green motor. Loved all the details
That car is neat, period. Course I love speedsters. It looks like a really nice car and if ya like speedsters, well worth the 26k.JMO
The only thing that car has going for it is the engine IMO. The "speedster" era died with the Model T Ford, I've yet to see anyone build a Model A Ford based speedster that was era perfect, if in fact there were any in 1928-31. The two 1940 Ford hoods to make the tail section are 10 year too new for the era of the car. Just another overpriced Great Race project, sorry if I broke anyones baloons on my observations.
Lippy- ya want me to build ya one? I've got a buddy with a complete A frame, ready to roll, that could be gotten for $1500, motor and all. I'd take a stab at building the body for the right price.... Ahhh shit, just realized I'm 3/4 of the way into a bottle of REALLY good Cabarnet. Maybe I'm not superman. But I do know the guy with the A chassis....
No Balloons broken...I'm not really sure what the hell I would do with it in the first place, just thought it was neat looking and a bit off the path frequently traveled...wanted to see what some HAMB'ers thought if it's quality and design. Thanks...
Most of these cars are built for a class in The Great Race, a few show up in the flea market at Hershey, and I lump them in with the fiberglass bodied bugatti gp on the Volkswagen floor pan builds. Both projects strike me as a waist of time & money, a rusty Model T or A Ford based Hot Rod is part of the real world and will always have a folowing.
