If you are chanelling car, most recommend 8" total height reduction. As 4" chanell and 4" chop combine together as 8" total. I personally like 6" chop

My seat is stock. I removed the factory riser, mounted it straight to the floor and made my own small (1.5" if I remember right) riser for the front to give it the proper pedal position when sitting. I'm 6' and it works well for me. I have a few inches between my head the the roof.

When we were building mine, one of the common complaints from the older guys was that they move a bit, I welded mine in and grafted new metal in tight spaces trying to cut down on all the wiggle

I don't have anything handy at the moment. Honestly it's just a chunk of wood cut to fit, screwed to the floor, and two dowels that go into the holes on the bottom of the seat. Experiment with a few different heights, it's different for everyone.

5 inches on mine too. I need to hack up my seat. My wife was kind enough to tie my seat springs for me (since her hands actually fit between the coils!) but it didn't lower the seat enough. I need to fab a new riser lower than the factory one. Still a work in progress.

Shooter, did you remove your package tray too?

Haha, thanks. It's great that my wife is tolerant of my addiction. :D Yep, I did the chop with the help of a buddy. It's still pretty rough, as I have to finish the windows and door tops. Here's a thread on it if you'd like to see some detail photos. Also, check out shooter54's chop thread. Lots of good info there too.

Right on, I'll have to try that. Right now I have the tray out and the seat cranked back as far as it will go and it's not enough. My head still sticks out like harry and the hendersons!! :D:eek:

tree inches. I bought a roll of 2 inch tape and a roll of 1 inch tape, put it on the body and started cutting. I'm 6'4" and plenty comfy for me!

I removed the package tray, kept the original seat, but for the cushion your butt sits on, I used the rumble seat cushion instead of the inside cushion because the springs aren't as high. The seat currently has a blanket over it, despite it being newly covered as a stock restored seat.
