Things just took a *MAJOR* turn for the better.....! :D

Had a visit from a certain Bob Hilton yesterday in the coupe below. He kinda got the neighbors attention

The nailhead/trans is together for a mockup...watch this space!

The build is back on thanks to my crossing paths with Bob Hilton who I never realized lives only 30 mins from me...

Here is the car on its way to his shop. It will return as a roller: 4 inches lower, with the nailhead and 3 speed sitting between the rails, complete with cowl steering a 36 dash and all metalwork done....counting the days

    You've just joined the brotherhood!!

  8. I agree. It's ok to drive a model A that hasn't had a haircut! Im leaving mine a high boy.

Great choice. That body and frame has great potential...and looks like it's in good hands. I think you just straightened out that zigzagged path you've been on.

It was your 'zig zag' comment last week that had me pause and consider other options. Fortuitously I then met Bob and the rest is history.

I am improving the new 30 this year with grille, wheels and wiring and will keep it till the 'Bob' coupe is done.

This thread reminds me of my project

I started to build a 30 on 32 rails. But started with a really bad body. Then bought a nice car with intentions of selling off the initial project. And now decided to keep going forward with my initial coupe while enjoying the new one.

I have tried to leave everything on display, the good and bad, in the hope it helps those new to the hobby.

I have learned a lot in the last 12-18 months but probably the biggest thing is to plan, plan, plan...that is easier said than done when you don't even know the questions to ask, let alone the answers to those questions!

It has taken me a year plus to get to the point where I know what I want, how to get it done and made connections with people that can help me get there.

The learning curve is something that I think those that have been doing this for 40 years forget. The trick, as I am finding out, is to try to get along that learning curve in as cost effective a manner as possible!

Took a trip down to see Bob Hilton yesterday. The car is blasted and ready for the build. As you can see we are going with a 36 dash, currently sitting on the cowl.

The target, March for it to be at the Detroit Autorama. That is the goal as of now anyway.

Body is pretty solid but will be undergoing a 4-4 1/2" chop shortly. Cowl steering, the 322 nailhead etc. IMG_2572.JPG IMG_2575.JPG

A new toy which will be going onto the nailhead.

Speaking of the nailhead...I decided to hand it over to Tony at Ross Racing Engines. They do SUPERB work and I know it is in excellent hands.
