Basic story is a good customer friend Tom dropped off this early 2000 rat Rod with body mounts for a crossly 4 banger which was gone. The chassis was mig welded suicidal madness so I decided to start fresh with new A rails.

I split em fit em and in the process flipped the rails backwards because the rails have a much better taper in the rear. Then I found a bad ass GM fire wall ( cowl said body by fisher). The front crossmember is as flat as a 2x4. 2” tube supports connect the trans crossmember to the kick up in the rear.

I rearranged the front end by welding a bung to hold the spring behind the axle, in the

To dep the rear I used 2x3 x 3/16 square tube and tapered it to now fit the new back of the rails, then jogged it in and up and put the A crossmember as Low as it will go ( I need to C notch it all now including the sub rails)

The motor is a late 36 insert bearing polished to the hilt bottom end! So it seems to be solid so we decided to go with a T 5 for pickup and go! The only kicker is the offer adapter needed a C ground where the starte is [emoji85]but it’s good.

The nose is a story. I wanted to make this thing but was apprehensive for good reason. I finally grew some and made dellren shrinking dies for my vibro shear and went to town ( make sure the thumb is only .1/4” tall! Max because I didn’t first go around and we’ll it wasn’t compressing the metal as you pulled it back out there in it wasn’t shrinking very well. Long story short I fixed the die and there ya go. Also made the back hem and welded it in. The hood sides I ran full beads ( model A size) and that’s where I’m at so far. Oh and the grille is a xk 120 flipped on its head!

Also the over all plan is polished hood and grille with nice paint color will be determined by how much I fumble mixing colors and black axles and such. Y’all will see soon enough when the next dump happens. I don’t do social media so your getting an exclusive look into my shop ( located in central Oregon). Hope the next round of photos come sooner than the last.

Is that a 26 Chevy firewall? I had one of those once, very cool looking piece, I like that. Looks like you're undoing/redoing it right.

Very cool. Makes me want to dig up my roadster project and get to work on it. Are you going to run the floor to the bottom of the frame rails? That's one of the main reasons I did it on my project, so I could sit in the car, not on it.

Yup yup put tube shocks on the front. It definitely helped when I hit a patch of highway 5 that was being “ worked on”

Look killer! The hood top really ties it together.

with out the top I kept getting distracted by the shape of the hood sides. I think they must have kind of a twist to joint the cowl and track nose shape? Maybe it’s just the louvers messing with my eyes. Either way with the hood top on I love it all.

Hey thank you! Yeah the hood sides do have a twist in them. I made them flat to begin with then shrunk the back top edge and it kinda just found it’s way to twisting into shape. Matt Seret thought me about doing this type of stuff and his great words of wisdom were to do one thing at a time. Not to assume what worked on one side will just simply work on the other.

Did some steering figuring. Got the 2”tube cowl support body mount in and the 3/8 x8” plate welded and tacked in. I extended the steering shaft 2” in the middle and it all worked great. I’m planning on case hardening the shaft now that it’s all test fit. then I modified a 38 dodge steering arm to work and it all fell into place. Just have some welding to be done and on to the next stage..
