Alittle update on my American Lafrance V12 Speedster.
I located and installed a good piston tonight to replace the cracked one. I also finally got the sprockets in and have the bullgear mocked up.

Still waiting on the head and gasket kit other than that everything to complete it is here.

I think I would like a fairly substantial chain guard on the things to make list. Just a convenient hand swing from the seat.
Might help prevent another Parry Thomas incident.

  7. Probably not a bad idea from a safety standpoint. Also in the unlikely event of a chain breaking and thrashing around wildly.

Not to mention a convenient place to hang a playing card to interact with the teeth! :p

Got the heads on and 2 of the subheads. 4 of the subhead bolts stripped out in the head. I have helicoils on order. Hopefully this week i can get the other 4 subeheads on. 20211113_124837.jpg

Got the engine back together and fired tonight!
Now it's time to plumb everything and get the sprockets finished up!

I'll be showing it at Retro Rewind and Fins and Films next year

Congratulations on getting the engine running! You might want to look up Henry Seagraves land speed racer " The Sunbeam slug, AKA mystery"

    March 29th, 1927, 207 MPH, this was a 1000 HP machine that featured " chain drive "
Looking forward to seeing the ongoing progress of this cool speedster you are building!

I stared figuring out plumbing for fuel and brakes. The plymouth brakes have these weird ass banjos to the hose instead of the lines going directly to the wheel cylinders.
    Also got the headlights mounted.

Productive day. I got the motor sitting on rubber bushings, the clutch pedal is now connected to the clutch, the gas pedal is mocked back up, the Fuel tank cap is attached to the fuel tank as well fuel line being ran, and i've began on the brake plumbing.

Wheels are back on and I had to roll it out for a few pics!
Brakes and right side chain drive is all that's left for final mockup then it's time for shows for the summer followed by a piece by piece teardown for paint/plating next winder

With those chains you shouldn't need a horn. They will hear you coming. I like it!!

Black paint on a tire perhaps...or the tire that just wouldn't roll and the winch won...?
