    Hello all,

I have read through the forums and tried to get this answer. I have a 1962 Ford Ranchero that is running a generator (6v). I meed to replace the starter and found one locally that is a 12v. Will it run ok?

I am planning on converting to a 12v system, but need the starter installed.

I appreciate any insight you all may have.

6 volts won't spin a 12 volt starter, however 12 volts will work just fine on a 6 volt starter. You probably would get more response posting on the main board.

I would change to 12v now then you don’t have to do it twice. Not hard to find 12v generator rest is piece of cake.
