I like your thinking... I ride a long travel(130mm) hardtrail, with a 2x9 and a bash guard, so unless it's really big, I am riding over it.

There are 153 tooth and 168 tooth flexplates, they each have their own starters which mount differently. You probably have the bolts for the other...
I have a 625CFM Road Demon and have been pretty happy with it... mine is probably 6 years old.
