Adding a pic. Looks like 8 bolts (if that means anything), with bolts facing drive shaft.8-bolt Rear End by RednekYoga posted Jan 6, 2023 at 9:50 AM
Happy New Year, HAMB - So here's my setup: '63 Mercury Comet, originally a 260 car with a Merc-o-matic 2-speed. I put a 289 out of a '66 Mustang,...
Dang, y'all. Spacer popped right off. It was stuck on with paint. Guess I'm good to go. Thanks everybody!
I'll check out the SPAL (of if there's a spacer I can remove).
There's not a spacer, I don't think. It's bulky where it bolts on for sure. Maybe an aftermarket fan would be lower profile?
Yep, I was a lot on ebay for cheap and thought they're probably crappy chinese products.
Hmmm...the ones I've checked out are mounted on the radiator.
Hi HAMBers, My tired orignial radiator in my 63 comet needs replaced. I bought a stock replacement but it was too thick...didn't fit because it...
Howdy HAMB-ers - Took my 63 Comet convertible in for an alignment and the fella said I needed a manual steering idler arm pivot bushing, which I...
You were correct, sir. Engages and shifts great! Thanks.
Makes sense...can I just remove the rubber grommet? Or get the other screen type filter with no grommet?
Ain't it part of the joy?
Oh man that could be it. I think the C4 I have is out of a maverick. I didn't think they'd be different so I got a filter for a Bronco. I think...
Old filter just had screen mesh, new filter has a screen and a circular rubber grommet on the bottom side.
The saga continues... I don't think the engaging/popping out of gear issue is a fluid level issue. I very carefully got the fluid level right. A...
Looks like the leak is fixed...two cheap rubber gaskets later, I bought a silicone/aluminum gasket and no more dripping. Shifts fine, but I have...
Oh...didn't realize that. I didn't know if people quit following threads after a spell.
Howdy y'all - Hoping to figure this out! I had a pretty steady leak out of the back of the transmission pan, so I decided to do a filter/gasket...
I was really careful in replacing the plunger/spring thing. Plunger goes on top, right?
It's not in the very best shape...someone (not me!) overtorqued it at some point maybe, but it didn't look too wonky.
No slipping, but it would take a few secs to pop into drive.
Howdy HAMBers, I've got a '74 C4 tranny/1966 289 setup in my '63 Comet. Had a pretty bad leak at the pan, started to hesitate going into drive, so...
Awesome...thanks y'all!
Hmmm...I was using a pic I pulled off google labeled "289 firing order" and it shows the Lippy. Gheez.
Oh man! This is my first motor build and it never occurred to me that the firing order would be different with a different cam...but you nailed...
Hey gents. The plot thickens... Yesterday I pulled off the manifold on the driver's side and ground off the tiny spot that was resting on the...
