any GM inline pre 1963 will not bolt up to the good transmissions without an adapter.
adapter... I have a turbo 350 mated up to my 235... used an adapter from langdons... also needs a new flywheel and starter... he has a kit... WAY...
after having a '55 with the dyna-slow... i would almost just go ahead and suggest getting a turbo 350... will do the nailhead much more justice...
I've got hwy gears and a 3 on the tree.... does 70 all day... will do 80 too but that starts to get scary with juice.
oh... and to the cruiser skirt question... I don't think so.. cause the back door wraps so close to the wheel opening... I like my stock skirts...
I cut 2 rounds off my coils and drove it that way for a long time... never had any front tire wear issues either... now it has juice... happy as...

I pulled my '58 on a u-haul trailer from phoenix to east texas... i can confirm that it will fit and pull just fine.
