Just brought this home and couldn't be happier. I first saw this car 20 years ago, it belonged to a good friend who bought it in 57 and yanked the Pontiac engine out and then it got tucked away in the warehouse. Still has a Lasalle trans attached to a heavily modified K member. Looks like it was emerald green at one time.
It was built in Portland Oregon in the mid 50's, not sure about who built it but it was probably in a shown around the NW, still trying to track down more info on it. It has a chev steering column but it also came with the nifty crestliner wheel you see on the seat. Interior is covered in 50 plus years of greasy dust but looks like it will clean up fine for my taste. I have several different engines that may go in but all depends on what adapter I can find. Still has a banjo rear, juice brakes and what has to be the nicest deuce body I've ever seen, not now nor will it ever be for sale in my lifetime. When I get permission I will tell my friends story. Some may gripe about people like him, the ones who stash cars away and won't ever sell them but it's guys like him that make finds like this possible.

I can't believe you guys keep finding these things! Congratulations.....

  7. Wow that is cool, people like your friend protect these cars, I never understand chastising long term owners who store the cars in dry storage.

Will you be rubbing out the primer to get the emerald green to show?

Looks like a very nice old hot rod. Sounds like you might just clean it up and get it on the road as is?

Good grief ! Unsplit bones and unmolested firewall. I didn't know Pontiacs were that short. A true diamond NOT in the rough. Congratulations.

Wow, what a find. Glad to see it was well preserved.
Body is that nice cause the car was only 25 years old when it was time capsuled in '57.
I'm guessing the owner let it go to a good home because he's getting up in years?

Thanks for the encouragement, my plan is to see what's under the primer very carefully and get it on the road asap. need to lose the funky firewall mount master and clutch cylinders, remove the under dash pedal assemblies. looks like they had a 39 pedal assembly, master cylinder is still there. New tires, find a full set of caps. also putting together a set of period gauges. My friend passed away 3 years ago so I'm going to try and do what he would have done.

  16. Wow. Nice find. Glad you plan on getting it back on the road.

I like the pedals and firewall mounted master cylinders...I'd use 'em.

Congrats on an awesome find, and sorry it took losing a good friend to get it. I have a feeling you'll do him proud with it.

That's an unbelievable find! Check that tranny. I have a Packard and a LaSalle trans. I may be wrong but yours looks like a Packard. Adaptors for them are still around. I found an NOS Hildebrandt adaptor to a flathead here on the HAMB.

    Good luck on the project.

Definitely a Packard transmission. (looks like it has a busted ear in one of the pics) I have a about 5 of those transmissions, one of which has the shifter bent exactly the same as yours. Must have been in a Deuce as well. (I may have a spare empty case if your is broken beyond repair) I would love some detail pictures of how the Packard trans is mated to the Ford torque tube. Been thinking about doing something similar to a '39 Wide Five setup.

Unbelievable find! Congratulations! Gotta love the stuff that is packed away in the PNW.
