Technical What the heck is this old trans???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rustyironman, Apr 15, 2014.

  1. This trans came with a pile of other stuff. I have no clue what it originally fit. With the rear parking brake band, I'm guessing pre-war car or a pickup. Any thoughts guys?

Hard without a pic. Maybe Chrysler?

  4. Fixed it...pictures didn't attach for some reason the first time

  5. I would guess Prewar plymouth column shifted 3-speed

Not necessarily that old, since Mopar was still using drum parking brakes on the back of transmissions well into the 60s

Look for numbers...they can be helpful.

I'm thinking there was one with the long input shaft that is the hot ticket when you want to swap out a fluid drive. I want to say around 53/54 Dodge truck but I'm not sure.

  11. I don't know what it is, but I know it isn't a '54 Dodge truck...

3 speed, non self shifting Dodge Fluid Drive from the forties - early fifties. Also used on a few DeSoto and Chrysler models, 1939 - early fifties.

Hey Mr Fedor, it'll be a year soon since you backed out of our deal on the Stude and went incommunicado. Don't you think it's time to stop ignoring my calls and emails and be nice enough to tell me why the engine was smoking? Or just be honest and admit you wanted more for the car?
