Where there's a will, there's a way. My single car garage is so small that I have to fold the mirrors in on my OT truck to put it in there. As a result my on topic car, a Falcon, resides on the driveway waiting for my attention when life permits. Just keep plugging and you'll get there in the end.

Was probably going to use the towel city 29 x 9. I heard good things, they come in the width i want, and its cheaper than the hursts.

  6. Nothing wrong with dreaming, it keeps you motivated. At one point I had a tunnel ram small block in my truck, I think that tunnel ram got "dream" placed in about 3 different trucks. ha ha

Haha! It seems like I spend too much time dreamin, and not enough time working!

Now that looks like a lot of fun! I'm jealous though, it has wheels and tires...another dream of mine.

So...its been awhile since I last updated this thread. Not that I haven't been working on it, I just got very into what I'm doing and don't take pics. Anyways, I finally finished up welding the rear suspension in. I fish plated everything together and while it may not be fancy, it came out pretty good (except for the pics...they're awful!)

And I know the angle is off from the fish plate and the gusset, but there was a major issue with the first gusset that had to get cut off and then I f'ed the angle on this one and didn't realize until too late.

    The rest of the plates:

Check me out with photobucket now! Anywho...it's too damn cold out to be working in an unheated garage, so I set myself up with a little shop in the basement. Warm...and I can work at night without pissing off my neighbors.

It's a great place to do winter projects. I rebuilt the '42-'46 GM Saginaw recirculating ball steering box I will be using. Sorry didn't take pics of the process.

And pressed the kingpins out the axle.

Other winter projects will be to finish the kingpins and put the front shock mounts in the axle. I'll also be rebuilding the Olds third member since I got weak in the knees and ordered the 4.10s. Maybe I'll remember to take pics of that!

    Time for another update:
Went to work on the front shock mounts in the axle. Drilled a hole where I wanted to install the mount:

Then, I cut some 3/4" tubing to the length I wanted. One side was tapped 1/2"-20 for the shock studs. The other side was tapped 1/2"-13, a bolt was put in, and the head was cut off. This side will be rosette welded on the back side of the axle.

Then, I beat them into where I wanted them. I did not weld them today, felt it was a little too chilly for it.

Finally, I guess I got a little carried away with the drill press, because all of a sudden more holes appeared. I know, it's a full fender vehicle, kind of pointless...I just wanted to.

Got two holes done, just seven more to go!

Thanks Lucky. UPDATES!! Made some progress lately, but no pics to prove it. Sorry. After A LOT of measuring, I'm finally ready to nail down the engine and trans mounts. Made some bump stops for the rear shocks out of hockey pucks. Got all of the steering hooked up and it works (at least in mock up mode). And I started fabricating the upper shock mounts in the front. I also ordered the rear tires and wheels, which should be here within the month. I also laid out the hole sizes for drilling the frame. I'll try to put up some pics soon.

So...no pics of the others stuff, however, I did start drilling the frame and I actually did take pics of it! It's a very time consuming process and probably the most physically demanding job I've done on this truck yet. Most of that is thanks to my grandfather's old drill. It's got a ton of torque, but god damn, if it catches wrong it'll rip you arm right off. I got a few good bruises on my stomach from it.

Got a lot done this weekend. Finished drilling the frame, glad to be done with that job. Also, fabbed up some upper shock mounts from 1/8" plate.

My wheels and tires for the rear came, so got them mounted and put them on the truck.

I'm pumped, it's the first time the truck has been on all fours in over 15 years! She even got to see some daylight for the first time in five years.

Thanks man, I really couldn't picture it with any other wheel/tire combo on the back. It looks killer with the rear fender mocked up too, I can't wait to get a bed on it!

Appreciate the kind words K13! It will look real good with the polished kidney bean wheels in the front as well. They're just not in the budget quite yet!

  30. Nice to see an update, the frame holes look killer as do the rear rolling stock !
