So my 54 Chevy has developed a fuel leak on the carb. The motor in the car is a 57 235 that had been replaced some time back in the 80's. I don't know if the carb on it is from 1957, or 1954. I know the kits are different for each one and I have to order it online so I want to be sure. I attached some pics of the carb in question, and a arrow pointing to where the leak is from. I can find no ID number on the castings. Only Rochester logos. Thanks in advance for any insight.
that leak is spill over down the accelerator pump link. It can be reduced by lowering the float level. But I really don't think you can ever stop occasional drips from there. There is just a slot in the gasket that helps keep the gas where it belongs. it is not leak proof.
