try buffing a spot before you clear i think you will find you don't need it for depth. we used clear over metalic colors so you didn't buff thru the coats causing bull's eye's or rings you could see in the metalic. clears fine but just adds more material to the finish and not needed. i also think it shortins the life span of black lacquer from the heat of the sun.sprayed a lot of lacquer in the day. i have done black by color sanding clean it up then mixed thinner and some retarder sprayed a coat on to seal the sand scratches let it set for at least 2 weeks buffs like butter and looks a mile deep....Dave:cool:

Thanks for the advice. Wanted to spray clear only to prevent any scraches from washing.

Hope not. Bought the paint from Hawthorne Paint in NJ. Trinity 1945 sells it.

Stripped all the paint and bodywork performed last year. In the process of Round #2 with bodywork and paint effort.

All bodywork is now complete. Merc is now in DP90 & K36 primer. Next step is to final sand. Then going to shoot base coat/clear coat paint system.

Clear lacquer would not buff out. Stripped all that lacquer.

Installed the tail lights & rear window today. Also finished off the rear bumper with the bumper guards over the license plate.
