I'd been looking around for a nice flip-top fuel cap/filler for a while and ran across one in the HAMB Classifieds. Robert Smith of Outkast Aluminum is fairly new to the HAMB, but he's been making one-off aluminum pieces for a while now. Since he is new here, I was a bit hesitant and asked for a customer reference. Robert has done work for TR Waters and he had nothing but good things to say -- 100% happy customer. I finalized details with Robert, sent payment and two weeks later I had a very nice product in hand. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a similar product or other cast aluminum items. Thanks again, Robert! His listing in the HAMB Classifieds: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=846983&highlight=halibrand+cap Malcolm
There is not. I'll take a couple photos of what I did to install it. I had a 1-3/4" exhaust pipe flared at one end (like a ball/socket type flare), connected it with a rubber fuel hose to my gas tank, and positioned the flared end right below the fuel cap. I used a piece of rubber inner-tube with a hole in the center for the fill tube to go through and holes in it for the hold down screws to go through. It's pretty much a rubber seal/connector. Another idea I had was to make a steel flange with the center hole matching your fill tube diameter and 10 small holes for the hold down screws to go through. The fill tube can then be welded to the steel flange.
