    Spot the Corvair? :(
This must be from an ad, judging from the disguised Mopars on the right...

And a few more H.A.M.B. premieres from my personal stash:

Closed sometime after the 1978 season. One of my earliest childhood memories was seeing Spencer's Mountain there in August of '63, in our '53 Bel Air sedan (I was three).

Personally I never thought anyone had used a 7 lug pattern, so that is interesting to see and read.

I was looking at a Ford truck and that had 7 lugs. That was a few years ago, and I was surprised to see a 7 lug pattern. Pretty unusual - but doesn't look "right" somehow.

What stands out in this picture to me, is not the goofy pants or the stance that he uses while pointing his revolver (instead of a semi), but rather the thousand pounds of trim that Pontiac put on their cars! :D

The Corvair is a first design, in the center of the front stack. The trim on the cops '42 Pontiac is very average for the time. Most of it is thin stainless, thin chromed steel and thin zink castings and isn't that heavy.

  8. An example of a 7-lug 1930 Chrysler wire wheel....

Actually, this is a very effective defensive action. Between the outfit and the pose, the Perp would be too busy laughing to return fire.

Seems like a pretty silly thing to complain about. There is no such thing as too much chrome. The Pontiac looks great and the trim doesn't weigh "thousands of pounds".

These appear to be pictures that were staged by the FHP, there is another pose of the same guy with the same car online. We have established that this was known as the Weaver stance and that it had nothing to do with actor Dennis Weaver who was 18 in 1942.

Can we now please move on?

  13. Florida Highway Patrolman C.W.Keith, from the 40s. Below are a few more pics of him during his career. He may look "Fife-ish" in those period-acceptable/appropriate duds, but I don't think I'd have wanted to mess with him while he was in his office.

That is Muncie Dragway when the return road was on west side. The grass median running the full length and the woods to the southwest. Been down that a lot of times.

  15. Pearl. Probably don't have to post the date - it lives in infamy.
