Kenny Smith's channeled '29 roadster was featured on the January, 1951 cover of Hot Rod Magazine. It's a cover that ranks number four in my "all time top-5 list" of HRM covers. Thinking on it, there are really three reasons as to why this is the case...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Always loved that car! I have seen other pictures from that evening with a pair of "queen" girls sitting in the car and the cameras rolling in the back ground. You are right about the proportions of that car though, after you get past the front three quarters high angle view it gets a bit weird. Sure has made me want to build a channeled '29 with a belly pan, a double stepped frame and the grill shell in the right place though...
The BoBo Kougahz Roadster haha!!! One of my favorite covers of all time. Now while I would hate to drive this car as you basically sit on top of it I do think it rules!! Love the smoothed rear and I'm always a sucker for Evans speed Equip. Cool stuff right here.
The caption on the engine says stock stroke and Mercury bore. What's up with that? I would think a stock bore and a Mercury stroke.
I am always a fan of the off beat hot rods and Kenny Smiths AV8 is certainly that. I have study the photos many time over the years. I have had these features scanned for sometime.
"Hollywood looks at Hot Rods" article is from 'Best Hot Rods' the one with Alex Xydias and the So-Cal team on the cover.
I've never seen this photo. The car in back is Louis Banto and Sal Macchia's 1927 Ford, "Sales Booster" in the July 1950 Hot Rod - one of my main inspirations. Posted using the Hopped Up H.A.M.B. App!
Great car, and nice pics Ryan and Jimmy. No cowl rods, and a neat little fan mounted on pillow blocks.
Great feature, but given what she's doing with that torque wrench I think I'd give her the kind that goes 'click' if you don't mind.
Calling Falcon George.... This is the object of his lust per this thread... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=818715 I too love this little roadster...
