    she didn't sell this go'round
so might as well fix what aint broke

swapping the stock '36 axle for an old dropped and filled axle I had laying around
just to give it a bit more rake..

    it's all fitted and rolling
but waiting on a couple parts, perch bolts,
    destroyed one pressing them out
    and shock mounts,
I had welded mounts to the old axle,
'don't know if I want to weld on this one..
jury's still out on that one..

but it should be out and about again soon

more under the heading of fixing what aint broke..

'been thinking of swapping out the sectioned Studebaker grill shell for a stock T shell lately
when one turned up I tried it out.
this shell was solid but beat up and the lower piece was missing
perfect for what I had in mind.

I separated the top panel from the surround, bashed them more or less straight
and chopped it 3-3/4" in height and narrowed it 2" to fit my radiator
and put the two pieces back together

as a test run this did fine,
I found and ordered a nice complete original shell
and will repeat and refine the process shortly

hard to see here in the shadows but, you get the idea

  6. Very cool hot rod. I liked the old grille shell, and the Ford one works great too.

the Studebaker shell was ok, and it worked when the car had the Sudebaker engine

but looking at Ivo's and Kugie's and damn near every other car in a similar build style
I like the T grill best.

it would (will?) look better in color

  8. You mentioned at the start, that it didnt sell. Is it still for sale? Id put my wife to work on a street corner to buy it, if i had a wife :D

a bit of the look I'm after

not sure about the top but,
I do have the start of a set of original bows
and it might be nice to sit in the shade once in a while

Love everything about your car, except the headlights. Kugie's car confirms it, your headlights need to come forward about three or four inches. Maybe down one as well.

    Keep up the good work.

Yeah I was seeing the same thing, they are also quite a bit larger than what was common then.
Mine are the BLC-682j's if I remember correctly,
A smaller bucket might look better.

  12. any plans to shorten the wind shield? even with the top of the steering wheel would be a great look. It would give the car a little more attitude, the rest of the car has the low lean look and the glass seems to go against the flow.

got a much better radiator shell in the mail the other day,
you can see how much I shrunk the first one

the first one had been hit sometime in the last 90 some years
this one is nice and straight.

    I'll chop it up soon,
should make things a bit easier

got the shell cut and welded back together,
same 2" narrower but this time only 2-1/2" shorter to let the bottom hang down a bit more,
shot some primer on it to better see where it needs more smoothing

found a pair of NOS Dietz headlights,
look like '60's era by the instructions
they will go in place of the big BLC's

    Thanks Paul

  21. I'm still confused as to why you would want to sell it.
    So cool!
