  1. Hey, good to hear from you. You still making those fine intakes? Been off the banger board for a while ;~(

  3. Did you decide to keep the banger? I remember checking it out in the classifieds some months back...very cool.

  4. Cool! More Y-Block As! Just what the world needs to keep peace and order. :D

  7. I'd heard about the build, but I'm just now stumbling across it. Very good info, and I really appreciate the problem solving and attention to detail.

Should be sweet, if you like Y-blocks...

  8. Hey BRTodd, thanks for the kind words man. Maybe I'll see ya at GNRS meet and greet. Wear those flip-flops! BTW, yeah, I think I'm respectful of the Y-block.

McTim, DAMN! She's a beauty! Your efforts and knowledge are very much appreciated. Never though I'd be fortunate enough to have a power plant from the Yblockguy ;~)

  14. Its pretty satisfying to see the progress I have made so far. If I keep going the way I am, I should have her on the road by my dead line date if not sooner.

Great build and a little deja vu on the Y-Block pics ha ha. My pistons are not flat on top though.

  20. Oh that's funny! Thinking the same thing looking at your pics ;~)
And yes, you've got a bit more poking out the top......
Enjoying your build as well and will buy the shirt when that graphic is done!

  21. Getting some more work done. A lot of "finish up" things for the chassis.

Way back in this thread, I posted a pic of a clearance problem with the driveline yoke and a crossmember. I cut a semi-circle out of the tube, formed a plate and welded it in to restrengthen the tube.

Very pleased with the clearance now.

Next is to start working on a K member of sorts and a transmission mount.

    And..... I've got steering now!

Limeworks made me a new shaft with keyway for '40 style wheel and pressed the worm gear on. Also a nice column.

Tire clearance is great when turning and it looks like its going to work well.:D

  22. Things are really looking great. Nice stout plate there where you clearanced the ladder bar x-member.

You probably already know this, but make sure you install the fron ladder bar bolts from the outside in rather than the way they are now. I've made the same mistake, and it makes life miserable to remove them otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing more progress!

  23. Hey Todd, never assume I've got this completely figured out ;~)
I appreciate anything I can learn from.

  24. Nice car! I also put a 292 in my model A. I used a '57 Chevy steering box and mounted it above the frame also.

Lookin' good man. Sorry I missed you at Viva. Keep up the good work.

  28. Thanks Dana, thinking it will work well
Me too, it was a great show!

Haven't done much lately but I'm getting my trans mount in place and ready for boxing. I'd been thinking about how I'd secure the nuts for the body mounts. Searching the Hamb I saw lots of great ideas but here is my version...

I'd use rod coupling nuts. This way I'd have lots of threads in case of a cross thread or any other mis-hap.
Using a step drill, I made a hole that partially had the next larger opening in the same hole. Then tap the nut into the interference to grip the nut
    IMG_1992.jpg IMG_1993.jpg IMG_1995.jpg
This held it well in place and actually engaged the frame.
    IMG_1990.jpg IMG_1997.jpg
Weld the top flush, then welded a "leg" on the bottom for strength. Not rocket science but hey.
    Boxing soon.
