Looks good! Sits really nice, top of rear tire right where it should be, grille lined up with the front axle. Very nicely proportioned.

Great progress last night. Pineapple was working on the drag link while I got the revised dash in and bolted up the column drop. We also had to work out a plan for a shim for the steering box to the frame. Not much to see here yet.

Finally, we cut and fabbed the new mast jacket, shortened the column and fit the steering wheel. Still have some machine work and finish welding, but it's close to steering on it's own.

I have no idea how I missed this one but I just read all 16 pages and what a great build and what a great looking profile on that car.

Thanks fellas, I had some insomnia last nite, and had HI's steering bits around, so I winged out this 4 degree shim to put the column right where it should be once bolted to the frame. No excessive binding needed.

    Matt.

Awsome progress! Can't wait to see this one done....

You've probably figured out your exhaust already, but I see that the F-1 box is pretty close to the block... I'm sure you're going custom headers or something, but if you're "boring" like me, I found these stock Ford manifolds that exit out the front. Got my out of jam when I had a flathead in my stock car (I ended up relocating the dip stick on mine):

Shaun, yeah, we will make custom headers, which should prove to be quite entertaining for anyone following this thread:D:D probably have to fill the f1 box with grease to keep it from boiling out:p

Thanks a lot guys, appreciate all the great comments! Nice work on the shim Pine, love it when you can't sleep, haha.

Pineapple didn't post the single point threading on the shortened drag link, cool as hell. Have to put the steering box back in and index the wheel to finish up the column.

Have not decided on exhaust yet, but one of the many benefits of moving the F1 box back towards the cowl was a hell of a lot more room for either lake pipes or running inside the frame...

Oh yeah, forgot.. Here some drag link shenanigans that keeps welding out of the equation for the drag link. Former model a tie rod, kept the left hand thread end, cut and thread a new right hand thread. No die for this one that I'm aware of.. Hog it all you want. If you're building stuff like this we need to see it. This car has come a long way since page 1. Nice job!

    Great job!
Just a suggestion.....You could fly cut or grind the back side of the steering box flange slightly at the hole locations at 4* also. (To keep bolt head and nut surfaces parallel). This eliminates the need for tapered washers when you bolt the steering box to the frame using that wedge.

    Thanks greaser!

I thought of doing that, but the amount to be removed would have gotten into the sector shaft seal counterbore more than I was comfortable with. I drilled the holes in the flat position before milling the angle, this way the holes are still perpendicular to the box flange, any diving off of the bolts through the frame should be sorted with lock washer crushing, if not, we will make an outside frame rail plate, to match…hmm, that could be a fun too.
