Gmc 302 spark plug recommendations

    New To the Site I Love It Great Information!

    Running a GMC 302 In a 1949 CHEVROLET 3600 Three On The Tree w/BW Overdrive just completed most of a Tune Up had been Running NGK B6S Plugs but are Dirty & Wet a crossed All GMC 302 Years Factory recommended AC 44 which are NLA but some are Running AC R45,R45S with NAPA 700165 Resistor Wires which I just installed any Input appreciated.

    I use NGK B6S in mine and replace them at 5,000 mi intervals.

    Thanks for the Reply,yes I too Use NGK B6S however notice a lot of Carbon and Wet so was wondering about AC R45S Extended Plug being an OHV Engine ?

    OK went with AC R45 Installed Runs FANTASTIC will take for a Ride next nice Day and inspect for Carbon & Wet

    Dwell steady 37 Timing Advanced a bit seems to like that Setting per the Vacuum Readings so All Is Good!

    I use NGK 3332 with a mini HEI. I am running a set gapped at 0.050 that work much better than the original AC R44 plugs. Starts easier and idles smoother.

    Yes thats what I understand to be the case a lot of improvement HEI Conversion for now Im holding on to some originality and actually enjoy tinkering now if and when I begin to have to Call AAA well then maybe Id consider HEI.

    My HEI is from an early 80's V6 S10 and has a vacuum advance. Bottom tuned down to fit into the GMC distributor bore and the shaft cut, bored and a stock GMC distributor shaft section with gear and tang stabbed in and pinned with the gear retainer pin.

    Looks close enough to stock to fool the casual looker. Running a 0.6 ohm Pertronix Flame thrower coil - looks like the original. Magnecore wires and it all came together nicely.
