Casting number, according to "Chevrolet Small-Block V-8 ID Guide," is '68-'69 Truck, 250 hp. The first three digits of stamped pad number is 18D, which corresponds to Chevrolet (1), 1968 (8), Doraville, GA plant (D)

I have not found anything with the suffix code you posted. Will continue to look

MY book says: 1968, full size car, with a turbo hydromatic, 327.
the 18D139417 is the partial VIN from the "born with vehicle".
    the T1220HF is: (T)Tonowanda, (1220)December 20th, (HF)327 T/H
casting number is a LARGE JOURNAL 327, really just a 4" large journal block.

find a 350 crank and pistons and presto a 350.
sell the large journal 327 crank IF IT IS FORGED, (probably not), for large $.

Thanks fellas, I was told it was the 300hp version. It has been rebuilt with a fairly nasty cam and forged internals. It sure does sound nice !! Im swapping out the edlebrock intake for and old Chevy 472 aluminum piece, and I donated my finned vette valve covers too. That should add some extra hp right... Either way I guess it should pull mu wifes 57 Bel Air Wagon nicely.

  8. From GM Parts Catalog: 1968 Chevrolet code HF is for a full size car 327 three speed automatic transmission. The three speed automatic that year would have been a TH400 as the TH350 was not released until the 1969 model year.
The parts catalog listings thru 1969 do not show rated horsepower, that started in 1970

Thanks for all the info fellas, if I remember, there's one more number on the side. I think that indicates the specefic car if was in from the factory. I'll take a look after work.
