Cool truck, looks hard as nails! Could you make a better close-up pic of the rear drum!

Steel (metal) would be better. Stronger. Aluminum can also corrode, usually where you can not see it. You will probably hear other opinions, but that is what I think.

  14. Aluminium lowering blocks are completely fine to use. They are what every single lowered ute in Australia runs (with the exception of air suspension).. and they are legal here. We have a lot tighter laws on vehicle modifications than the US does.. so they will be fine.

    new question;
I have some chroom wheels I whant to try, but I have to put some wheel spacers on it but now my original studs are too short.
So I'm looking for longer wheel studs just for the rear end.

Here a picture of the wheels (I know, not everyone's cup of tea but for the moment just to try)

Because spring is coming I'm back at it again!

Changed the oil and gasket in the rear axle (good ide because the level was low, the gasket was leaking and the oil has some sludge on the bottom)

I have also taken the oilpan off and same thing hear, sludge on the bottom. I change the oil last year immediately after I had it running.
I cleaned it all up and wanted to instal the new oil pan gasket but it is not the correct one.

the mud in the oil pan:

    the pan cleaned and painted:

inside cleaned and new gasket (wrong gasket)

    gasket set

in the new set are also cork gaskets for the front and back of the pan, not rubber gaskets as installed now on the car.

can someone explain to me what went wrong? incorrectly ordered?
also someone once told me that this was not the original engine for the truck.

ok I think I can answer my own question: on the website of classicparts I can see that the 1955-63 235CI gasket set is the correct one.
So either my papers ore the engine is not correct for the car. the paper say 1949.

If that license plate came with the truck I know the area it came from. Most of the truck and cars around there are rust buckets! old farm trucks hammered to hell and gone. Nice truck enjoy it.
