6 x W-1 carb'd custom alluminum sbc intake build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by '52 F-3, Nov 25, 2013.

  1. Nicely made spacers, but that intake will never get that hot at the carbs.

    little progress.....
mounting flanges welded to the "logs", runners just tacked to manifold base.

runners are not going to be this tall, I left extra length for fitment to logs and ensure they are level.

This is bad-ass. I have contemplated doing something like this for my Olds 350 that's in my T-bucket project. There's just not any interesting intakes available for those engines.

curious as to why u chose steel for the valley pan and not aluminum, maybe ribbed to match runners.

Great project! Looks pretty obvious you know your way around a mill.

I've built two 4 cylinder intakes but haven't gotten a chance to build a v8 one yet. Can't wait to see it run.

progress never seems fast enough for me, had an issue with my Harbor Freight band saw (imagine that).....

anyway made a 6 output fuel block on a lathe, not sure where i'll mount, will need to make linkage first.

did get the flat plate made to mount carb bases/logs to do final fitting and welding to the runners (plan to shorten runners an inch or two).

still not sure how im going to handle the end caps....

I sold my roadster, built addition to garage, got a 6 volt positive ground 46 Tudor running etc.....

here's first test mockup after welding tops to bottom, still have lots to do..... crossover tubes, end caps, so some cleaning up on the inside, design/build progressive linkage, mount fuel block and run fuel lines etc...

have other thoughts, but could always use more

Very sweet. I love hand fabbed stuff and when it's done this well, even better.
