Hey HAMBers...my father has seriously gotten into vintage dirt cars and has picked up quite a collection. He is currently building another Kurtis Kraft and need your guys help. He has a Wico V magneto set up for one that the previous oner had taken every nut and bolt apart in it and had it fully polished. What he need is someone that knows how to reassemble or knows any links to how to reassemble these things. We do have a few others, butthey are on the cars and dont want to taken it off and take them apart to figure it out.
    Thanks for the help guys

Hi. Call standardmagneto. The owner or manager of standardmagneto.com bought wico in the 1980s. Very helpful people and they are on Internet.

    Good luck. Mike

  7. Are you talking about assembling the mags themselves, or just the mag units on to the Barker drive? . If the mags are not assembled, send them to Tom Cerrillo. If you just need to know how to time the mags, the left mag starts on #5 cylinder on the right bank. The right mag starts on the first cylinder on the right side, #1. The firing order is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. Each mag fires 2 cylinders on each bank. Seeing it is easier than reading it. You are in Pasadena. Go over to the Justice brother's Museum in Duarte and raise the hood on my Dad's #93 Kurtis. Trace the plug wires and make a diagram. The mags fire 45 degrees apart. To set the timing accurately, you need a degreed hub on the crank with two pointers 45 degrees apart. Fire the engine and time the mags, one at a time, with a timing light. If you are pouring enough alcohol through the carbs, 28 to 30 degrees will run real sharp. If you are running gasoline, 25 degrees is about max.
